Advantages: Dancing and Patrick Swayze
Disadvantages: NONE
Well another great little pressie from Santa this year was my Dirty Dancing DVD. I am a massive fan of this film and never miss it when it is shown on the TV.
STORY
The film is set in the summer of 1963.
'Baby' Frances Houseman and her family are on their holiday staying at a holiday resort in the Catskill Mountains.
Baby takes no interest in the holiday resorts activities and really starts to enjoy her holiday when she stumbles upon the staff quarters and sees a whole new side to life. She walks into a dance party and gets to meet Johnny, the resorts dance teacher. She soon learns that she cannot dance and has no rhythm.
Johnny's dance partner is forced to pull out of a dance show due to ill health and so she suggests that Baby learns the dance routine and takes her place.
The story develops showing the process of learning the dance and the routine and soon love sparks between Johnny and Baby.
I am going to end the plot here as I do not wish to spoil the film for anyone who may not have seen this film.
DVD EXTRAS
There are 4 special features on this DVD which include,
Learn to Dirty dance
Audio Commentary from Creator Eleanor Bergstein
Filmographics
Trailer.
Personally I have not been too interested in these as the film is far to good to be wasting time on them!
MY OPINION
This is definitely a film I would recommend especially to women or Patrick Swayze fans. His dancing ability is totally amazing in the film and his acting is also wonderful.
Jennifer Grey also plays a wonderful part and shows a lovely side to her character from being a very quiet little shy girl to becoming someone who knows what she wants and stands up for herself.
There is a fairly good story line to this film but for me the dancing has to be the main part in this film.
There is a brilliant soundtrack which accompanies this film. I know this is available to buy as I do have a copy myself.
FILM INFO
This film has a certificate of 15 as it does contain moderate sex references but personally I feel a child of 12 would be quiet alright watching this.
The running time for this DVD is approximately 96 minutes.
Produced by Linda Gottlieb
Directed by Emile Ardolino
I would definitely recommend this film to all.
I also have this review posted on Ciao! under the same name.
Summary: Brilliamt film for Swayze or dancing lovers
