Disadvantages: None

I thought there was nobody left who hadn't seen Dirty Dancing, until recently I came across a few people who said they'd never got around to watching it. Well, if you are one of those people then all I can say is do not delay any longer! It is an amazing film.

The year is 1963. Jennifer Grey stars as seventeen year old Baby, who goes on vacation with her parents to a posh holiday camp. She soon finds herself caught up in the dilemmas resort's dance teacher, Johnny, played of course by Patrick Swayze. Johnny has a pregnant dance partner who he must help, and a dance to perform that he needs a girl for. Baby decides to assist with both, and becomes Johnny's pupil, learning to dance and falling for him at the same time. But all does not go smoothly and Baby's father isn't pleased with the relationship. Will they be able to be together? Will Johnny and Baby be able to complete their important dance?

This is a beautiful coming of age story for Baby, who discovers her inner strength and her growing sexuality. It's also wish fulfilment for most of us girls, as who wouldn't want a strong, gorgeous man to teach us stunning dance moves? Both Grey and Swayze play their parts really well and there is great chemistry between them.

The dance moves in this film are lovely, and the soundtrack is awesome too, filled with classics that will make you want to dance around the room yourself! There's lots of humour in the film too, partly due to Baby's innocent nature and partly due to a cast of comical supporting actors and actresses.

There is nothing bad about this film: it is the ultimate romantic comedy and is perfect for a light, fluffy treat to cheer you up. It's obviously aimed at women but it's not so soppy that men couldn't sit through it.

There is a 20th Anniversary Collector's Edition DVD of this film out at the moment, which costs only £3.98 from Amazon.co.uk. It has a whole extra disc of special features, which I cannot comment on as I don't own it but I'm sure they will be worth watching.

Summary: Excellent film!
