Advantages: Some people seem to like it

Disadvantages: Poor plot and wooden acting

Being a dancer you would think that I would love a film with so much dancing especially when you also get to eye up the scrummy ripped body that Patrick Swayze shows off in this film however the whole storyline is so mushy and cutesy that it totally switched me off and I have only watched it the once and that was more than enough.

Set in the early sixties on a holiday park in upstate New York where the rather worringly named Baby, played by Jennifer Grey, is holidaying with her family, it is a poshplace full of ptight white middle class people. Swayze plays Jonny the camp dance teacher and she develops a bit of a crush on him andtries to get involved with the whole scene that the other camp workers have going on which mainly seems to involve dancing and fornicating with each other.

Cue him having to teach her to dance so that they can assist a pregnant fiends of his and a budding romance develops. As you might have gathered I was not exactly impressed with the plot line and the acting is pretty naff as well with Swayze looking wooden and Grey is not really that convincing in her role either.

The plot is rather predictable and while the dance scens are pretty good I can think of at least a dozen musicals which have far more impressive dance scenes in them with a lot more talented dancing, hell Travolta and Thurman in Pulp Fiction danced better than these guys, well maybe not but they looked a lot cooler.

Not liking this film probably puts me in the minority but then again that does not make me wrong, it is just a matter of opinion.
