... looked like it had been done on a budget! They tried to work in a plot to the all of the parodies but it didn't really work. The films and people parodied included Night at the Museum, Enchanted, Hannah Montana, Sex and the City, High School Musical, Juno and more. Because of its name 'Disaster Movie,' there was a sort of disaster but even this didn't seem to really make any sense, it was as though they were making it up as they went along. Acting? It was basically, terrible. None of the actors or actresses had any rea...more

Premium Review Disaster Movie (DVD): It really was a bit of a disastrous film... (504 words)

I had heard a little bit about this film before I saw it. Mostly that it was a parody of lots of different film, and also that it was not very good.. so I didn't have very high expectations when I started watching it! The film is about a group of young friends in their twenties. The films main plot is a little bit like the one of Cloverfield; the friends are at a party when all of a sudden buildings start collapsing, there are hurricanes and earthquakes and they have to try to keep safe. The only thing to stop all the havoc is to replace a golden skull back onto its stand in a museum. Throughout the film they meet pretty much every character from ...  Read the complete review

I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel the need to watch a really bad movie every once in a while - I suppose it's a sado-machistic urge that crops up and needs to be controlled with some 'TFT'... 'Terrible Film Therapy'. As a result, I recently rented the Jason Friedberg / Aaron Seltzer directed 'Disaster Movie', which I knew would be pretty awful, having already seen 'Date Movie', 'Epic Movie', and 'Meet the Spartans'. The plot follows the basic structure of 'Cloverfield', but using the word 'structure' is being kind, as there isn't much coherence to any of the viewing experience. It is instantly apparent that Disaster Movie isn't really a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Disaster Movie (DVD): CHEERED A MONDAY UP IF NOTHING ELSE (355 words)

I've started watching more films thesedays and not being as snobby with my choices, I saw this Premiered on Sky Movies Premier on Saturday, and it is being shown every night until friday. It is also on Sky Anytime until tomorrow, but if you record it from Anytime then it goes into your planner and you can watch it anytime. When I heard this was from the Scary Movie gang, I thought it would be a bit stupid comedy, which it was, but since I am a bit down at the moment with Work issues and my dad being in Hospital after having a Heart Attack, then I just felt like something to take my mind off the norm! This was released last year, runs for 86 minutes and is a ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Not such a disaster after all (399 words)
by - written on 30/08/09 (Very useful, 49 readings)
Rating:

First off, these films are just a bit of fun; they don't take themselves seriously, and don't claim to be anything other than silly. Critics (and most viewers) seem united in their general hate of them (with this one scoring 1.6 out of 10 on IMDB.com after nearly 30,000 votes), but there is a lot to get out of them if you like comedy and know your recent films. Basically, these movies parody the latest trends in film. They began with scary movie, which took the mick out of horror films, but this one mocks the recent spat of disaster films. It follows a group of young teens who find themselves at the center of numerous natural disasters. The best ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Disaster Movie (DVD): Disaster isnt a strong enough word, how about Catastrophe? o ... (436 words)

I dont know why I ever thought this film would be good, I really dont because I was more or less completely dissapointed from start to finish with this film, except maybe the date song at the end. But even that is pushing it. Other other thing that made me chuckle was the thought of Hannah Montanna actually dying, and the effect that it would have on my sister, I actually think it would cause all young girls to collapse into a pit of despair from which there will be no return, well that is untill Disney develop a way to bring her back from the dead. Right rant over, the film its self has a terribly put together story line and as far as spoof films go, the only ...  Read the complete review
