 ... to the acting rather than the murder itself). There are several lame one-liners, mostly from the dim police inspectors chasing Phibes, but I wouldn't describe this as a very funny film. What it certainly is, is camp. Price's onscreen persona by this point had become so overdone that he couldn't really do serious horror roles anymore. A review of the MGM DVD, available from amazon for slightly less than £5. This is a British horror film from 1972 (although it was financed by American International Pictures). The previous year had seen the release of The Abominable Dr Phibes, a comedy horror starring Vincent Price as a scarred mad scientist taking revenge on the surgeons who failed to save his wife's life. It did well enough to warrant a sequel, this film. A voiceover helpfully recaps the plot of the first film at the beginning of this one, so it isn't necessary to have seen it.
