WHY I PICKED THIS STORY

As a young lad I remember watching the colour doctor who movie on tv with PETER CUSHING as the doctor and thinking to my self the daleks are brilliant but at the same time a little scarey ,Of course this never stopped me loveing them I really liked the different colours of the daleks in the movie and I had always wanted a dalek of my own,At the same time as this tho I wondered are the daleks real and is there really jelly like creacture's inside them or did people make them like us? You never imagined there was a real person inside one.
At this time in my life I actualy did think the daleks were real and one day I was hopeing i might see them rolling down the street trying to take over the planet I did'nt care I did'nt care id of let them ,And im sure it was'nt just me that watched to much tv as a kid and actualy thought the things on tv were real.
I was around seven or eight when this doctor who story was first aired on tv and SILVESTER McCOY to me was the up to date doctor at the time and he was very true to the 80's feel of things even tho looking back on it in the year 2006 what were those wool jumpers all about in the 80s did granny go mad and get a truck load of wool for xmas.
This dalek story was the only story I actualy remember watching on tv from SILVESTER McCOY tho as my parents at this time in theres lifes were noticeing the ill fated end of doctor who they started watching other programs instead but as this story both had the new doctor before the ill fated movie and the new series plus the daleks in (my favorite sci-fi enermy) I wanted to Relive that first episode again 18 years after first watching it.

The story starts with the doctor and ace arriveing near coal hill school in the year 1963 the doctor lets it be know that he has been at this same spot in time before as the very first doctor thats the spooky bit you can almost imagine SILVESTER McCOY bumping into the first doctor William Hartnell ,The reason he's hear is to finish unfinished buisiness from his first visit.
the story see's two rival faction's of daleks battleing it out for hidden time lord technology which the doctor left behind the first time he visited which both sides want for the perfection of there own time travel machines.Davros manages to find the hand of omega which is technology he need for the travel machine but All does not go well for both dalek sides in the end and with out telling you what happens lets just say both sides get more than they bargined for and best of all leaves davros the leader of the imperial dalek free to enter the new series at some stage in the near futrure.

WHAT I THOUGHT OF THE EPISODE

The story behind this episode I thought was a fairly good one and if it had been done slightly different i think it could have been a really good one but thats where the good parts of the story end for me,The acting and production in this episode is really poor after watching the dvd i actualy wanted to take the thing back and ask for a refund but i thought to my self again keep it for my collection and you never know you could watch it again and find it better.
There are partsof the story which just seem really silly to me like when ace gets given a baseball bat that has been magicaly touched my the powers of the hand of omega and she starts hitting daleks with the thing and actualy manages to destroy a few,The second part was the daleks them selfs they look just horrible and have the nastiest colours ever white/cream colour with gold and when you see them bounceing up and down left and right on a cobble road you just say to your self what have the BBC done its like they just gave up on the series.
The part I did like about the story was the two rival factions of daleks fighting each other as both factions are deeply differnt on there insides to each other even tho they look the same on the outside apart from there colour that is,One side the renegade's are truely the original daleks from gallifrey and davros's daleks are mutant's daleks created from mutated half dead human beings,you also see the amazeing but blind special weapons dalek for the first and last time in this episode .
Over all I really didnt like this episode as it seemed really rushed and poorly put together Im sorry SILVESTER McCOY but after this story im going to stay clear of any more of you episodes unless I hear any good reviews.

BRIEF HISTORY OF DAVROS AND BOTH DALEK FACTIONS

In the tom baker year's there was a dalek story called genesis of the daleks this told the story of davros being the creater of the daleks but then finding that his creations beleived they were stronger than there creater this is a brilliant story and one of the best thought out one's available.
In Colin bakers only encounter with the daleks davros create's a new race of daleks created from mutated humans in order to quickly increase the number of daleks this is the start off two dalek factions being in the galaxy as there are now the original daleks created by davros on his home planet of skaro these are the daleks that beleive they are strongerer than davros him self and are now ruled by the dalek supreme a master tactical dalek. The second faction is davros's later loyal imperial daleks which which have been reprogramed not to turn renegade and be loyal to the leader davros,These daleks are created from the mutated humans from the planet of Necro.
Both these factions hate one another but in the colin baker story they do say the imperial daleks will be converted to be loyal to the supreame dalek when davros is taken prisoner by the renegade dalek's which does show that the daleks do understand when the fight is over.
