Opening 10 years previously, Dont Say A Word begins with an explosive jewel heist that goes wrong. As the story unfolds in present time, Dr Nathan Conrad is gearing up to celebrate thanksgiving with his incapacitated wife and 8 year old daughter Jessie. When Jessie is kidnapped from her bed whilst the family sleeps, Nathan is pulled into a dramatic plot to obtain a secret number instilled in an 18 year old's mind. The problem being, said 18 year old is locked away in an institution where Nathan offers psychiatric advice and refuses to say a word. In 1991, a group of thieves, led by an English man named Patrick Koster, carries out a daring robbery on a New York bank. Their aim is to recover a jewel locked in a safety deposit box, which is worth more than $10 million. The plan goes without a hitch until the thieves separate into two separate vehicles. As Koster examines his booty, he is horrified to discover that a member of his gang in the other car has switched the jewel. Switch to the present day, and we are introduced to Dr Nathan Conrad, a brilliant psychiatrist, who lives in a New York apartment with his wife and young daughter. Ahh, Michael Douglas. The thinking woman?s wrinkled sex symbol. Also known to men all over the world as ?the jammy bar steward that gets to do unspeakable things with (the rather over-rated) Cath Z-J?. And a not too bad actor too, to be honest. A man of some considerable acting talent, Mikey boy has at times been guilty of appearing in some rather guff films (Disclosure or Traffic, anyone?). So when I went to see Don?t Say A Word last night (his latest formulaic Hollywood offering) I wasn?t expecting too much of either him or the film. Well, I have to say I was more than pleasantly surprised ? it?s actually pretty good. PLOT: ==== Mikey D plays Dr. ... Read the complete review

We turned up for 'Charlotte Gray', but it had already started, so in desperation we had to turn to 'Don't Say A Word', a clearly missable suspense thriller which did well in post-September 11th America, but isn't exactly the cinematic highlight of this spring. I usually like Michael Douglas, and there were a couple of interesting names down the cast (Famke Janssen, the ever-reliable Oliver Platt, who you will have seen in a dozen movies even if you don't know who he is), and it was either that or nothing, so off we went. By 'eck, as Sean Bean seems close to saying, even in his most threatening moments, it's just like every ... Read the complete review

I thought Don't Say a Word was an outstanding psychological thriller, it was exciting and mind bending, it really keeps you thinking about what on earth is happening from beginning to end. The basics of this film are as follows: The film is all about the robbery of a $10 million gem where two men ou of the gang take the stone leaving the person in charge of the robbery, Patrick, very angry. The film is actually set 10 years later but include flashbacks to the time around this robbery. Next we move on to meet Dr Nathan R Conrad who is a child psychiatrist, he is asked to meet with a teenage patient, Elizabeth. She is a very disturbed person who ... Read the complete review
