Dr. Seuss the Cat in the Hat (DVD)

This film initially received some bad reviews... But I didn't don't listen to critics then, and hey I don't now... Yes, Dr Seuss might well have been turning rather quickly in his grave when it was first released and it might well be unlike his wonderful book, but it is a film that hopes to entertain young children and that is exactly what it did for mine. My four and half year old daughter was sat riveted to it when we watched it for the first time in 2004, perched on the edge of her chair. When I was a Child, I used to like reading Dr. Seuss's Cat in the Hat, it was full of interesting Images and taught me about Balance, you see the Cat i the Hat is a very clever Cat and will try and bring Balance to your life, what do you think of that? also it taught me how to Ryhme different words, I know I am now an Adult and maybe nursery Ryhms are maybe a bit out of my league, but the Story is educational for Children aswell as being entertaining and some Kids would probably find it funny, it doesn't make much sense, but maybe that doesn't matter, I own the DVD and watch it with my Children often, they are always glued to it and I find some of the inuendo funny ...  Read the complete review

I have never read the book to which the film is set so I can't really comment on the story of the film too much but I was seriously disapointed when I saw this film as I expected another great from Mike Myers as I have enjoyed all or atleast most of his movies but in my opinion unless you are a really big fan of the book, Mike Myers or a child then I wouldn't pay to go see or own this film as I feel its a complete waste of money. im a big fan of mike myers but this film is not his best. i didnt enjoy cat in the hat at all i found it boring and to be honest not that funny. the graphics are great along with the costumes but it still doesnt compensate for te poor movie. the story line does not seem to take off and it all seems a tad boring, i have tried to watch this film three times but not once have i seen it to the end. some of the jokes seem out of context for kids and some just are not funny. so im sorry to say but this would definatly not be on my recomendation ...  Read the complete review
