Dreamcatcher (DVD)

This is a Warner Brothers film, directed by Laurence Kasdan and is based on my favourite book by Stephen King. With Morgan Freeman starring, you can't go wrong. The Plot Its about four friends who rescue a boy called Douglas or 'Duddits' from some school bullies, and end up being granted with some strange powers. Years later, although they have their own lives, they meet up every year to go hunting. This year, however, they find themselves in a quarantine led by Morgan Freeman, and become part of a battle against virus-carrying aliens, with the help of Duddits who is reaching the end of a fight with leukemia. When four young school friends encounter a mentally disabled boy being bullied by some older kids, they form a new friend for life by rescuing him from his captors. Together, the five boys share many summers of friendship and adventure, and Duddits (the rescued child) shares with them some extremely unusual gifts. The four of them find that they are able to read one another’s minds, and one of them develops a strange ability to find missing objects. For the next twenty years, the four boys (now fully grown adults) remain close friends, and once a year they meet up in a secluded woodland cabin to share old stories and reminisce beneath the Indian “dreamcatcher” ...

I wouldn?t say I?ve got a defined genre as far as films go. I?ll sit through all types of film but there are certain genres that I?ll only watch certain types of films. The Horror genre is one of those. I?m not keen on the trend of Teen Slasher movies and apart from the Scream series try and avoid them. It was purely by chance that I came across Dreamcather, a film adaptation of a Stephen King book of the same name. It looked good from the few adverts I had seen and so decided to buy the DVD.
