Reno is an impoverished artist, living with girlfriend Carol and another friend, and struggling to make ends meet. A general feeling of disappointment towards life and punk band neighbours who are constantly practicing slowly begins to drive Reno mad. The only thing that seems to keep him vaguely sane is murder; the grotesque killing of homeless men with an electric drill. Will his friends notice that there is something wrong with him before his killing gets even more out of hand? Driller Killer is one of the most notorious video nasties ever. Released in 1979, this film is one of those responsible for the video recordings act introduced in 1984. It come from the mind of the now critically acclaimed director Abel Ferrara, and was banned for close to 20 years after its release. A hole in the head for mainstream cinema! This film stands up as a classic of independent gutsy horror, and began the carrear of it's infamously controvercial madman director Abel Ferrara. Ferrara combines perfectly the seedy realism of early Martin Scorsesse, gory horror, and the punk rock attitude of the late 70's.
