Advantages: Roberts and Owen have fantastic on-screen chemistry and the final twist is outstanding

Disadvantages: Way too many flash-backs for the film to handle

Julia Roberts is slick, sexy and seductive. Clive Owen is cool, suave and...also slick. Put the two of them together, and you get an intelligent, fast-paced, satisfying con-film. Working for rival companies, these two get a little greedy and try to steal millions and live happily ever after. Of course, nothing is what it seems and through a series of flash-backs the audience is given more genuine understanding to how everything started, how there are bumps along the way and how the relationsihp between the two develops. The two leading actors have excellent chemistry with each other, (which was quite evidently showed in their previous film "Closer") turning the events of the film playful, fascinating and sometimes downright hilarious. The final twist is simply incredible, smart, and not at all predictable. Even with the generally smart screenplay, the film does suffer from way too many flash-back sequences. There is a point where the audience starts to understand everything that is going on and wishes the film would reach a successful conclusion. But even after this the film presents more flash-backs to somehow add more unnecessary details, mistaking this for building tension when what it's really creating is boredom. But all in all this is an immensely enjoyable, comical thriller.

Summary: Occasionally dragging, but an excellent thriller overall
