*** Synopsis *** Lily (Loren Horsley) is a downtrodden and unpopular skivvy at the Burger Boy fast food chain in Wellington, NZ. Shunned by co-workers and customers alike, her only chink of joy in an otherwise grim and greasy working day is when nerdy regular customer Jarrod (Jemaine Clement of 'Flight of the Conchords'), who works in the nearby computer game store, comes in for his daily Meaty Boy Meal. Not content with admiring Jarrod's criminally-dressed, mulleted form from afar, Lily cooks up a plan to wangle an invite to his birthday party, to which guests must come dressed as their favourite animal. Arriving clad in a comedy shark suit, ... Read the complete review

Eagle Vs. Shark has been compared to the American cult sleeper hit Napolean Dynamite. For me this isn't a good thing as I found Dynamite to be boring and, in the main, crap; Wes Anderson's exquisite Rushmore having ploughed a similar furrow a number of years beforehand. EvsS does have some similarities to Dynamite, in the sense that the two main are a couple of geeks, fringe of society people who don't quite fit in with what people consider to be 'normal'. Eagle Vs. Lily: How did you find out where I live? Jarrod: I got my flatmate to ring up your work. Tell them it was an emergency. You probably shouldn't go in there, they think you're dead SO how many independent film comedies from New Zealand have you seen and how many of them have been any good? Exactly. In fact how many NZ films have you seen apart from Once Were Warriors? The Lord of the Rings trilogy doesn't count. Well the Eagle and the Shark is one you should see and very funny too. It's geeky in the that traditional Napoleon Dynamite sort of way, the laughs subtle and then not so subtle, a good giggle on offer at all those oddball characters from all the ... - Cast/Credits - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0494222/fullcredits - Story - Eagle vs Shark is a movie set in New Zealand about a somewhat lonely orphan called Lily who has a crush on a guy called Jarrod who's just as socially awkward. It turns out that they share the most random things in common, which intrigues her, so she ends up staying at his families place and getting to know his family, while trying to take to or support his many peculiar hobbies, including taking part in video game battles and getting his own back on old school bullies, who may not be as they once were. Its more a story of two quirky characters that try to see ... Read the complete review

Eagle Vs. Shark is a 2007 romantic comedy from New Zealand, directed by Taika Waititi and starring Loren Horsley and Jermaine Clement. Lily (Horsley) is a shy, socially awkward young woman who has a crush on geeky Jarrod (Flight Of The Conchords' Clement), who sees himself as some suave ladies' man but in reality is a mullet-haired idiot. Lily finds herself at one of Jarrod's videogame parties, where everyone has to dress as their favourite animal and compete at the game "Fightman" (hence the title). Thanks to her costume and game playing skills, Jarrod starts to take a liking for Lily. When Jarrod tells Lily he needs to return to his home town to ... Read the complete review
