Earth Girls Are Easy (DVD)

This film is truly brilliant! It's a good old 80s flick with it's tongue seriously in it's cheek. Starring are people who are now superstars and better known for more sober roles but who are also actors and actresses known for being "kooky" (I dislike that word but can't think of a better one). Quick storyline: furry over-sexed aliens (Jeff Goldblum, Jim Carrey (very little of his annoying gurning in this film) and Damon Wayans (not nearly well known enough in the UK) crash land in the Valley (the plastic bit of LA) and get taken in by Valley girl-having-a-wedding-crisis Geena Davis. This is one you can't miss. The title nearly put me off cos I felt slightly insulted but in this movie it is so true. 3 furry aliens crash land in Geena Davis' pool after checking out babes from Finland on their in ship telly. Davis ends up hitting her head on the ship while going for a swim and is taken inside and rescued from drowning only to freak out when she comes round. She soon gets used to the idea that there are aliens in her pool and being a good hostess invites them into her house. Where they wreak their own particular brand of havoc. This is a genre all of its own - 'Alien, Comedy, Musical, Teen' well just call it a fun film. Basically three aliens crash land their spacecraft in Geena Davis' poll. When I say that the aliens are played by Jeff Goldblum, Damon Wayans and Jim Carrey - you start to get the idea. This was released at a time when none of the actors where the box office stars that they became later, so it was probably quite cheap to make - the spaceship it not exactly 'high tech' more 'low blue peter'. This is a favourite of mine with a good , though very silly, script. It is notable for the early appearance of so many future BIG stars....Geena Davis ( Thelma & Louise), Jim Carey(Truman show), Jeff Goldblum, Jeff Daniels (Dumb&Dumber) The story has three cat like aliens in a spaceship crashlanding in an LA swimming pool belonging to a nail technician dating a sex mad doctor (Daniels).
