I am a massive Eddie Izzard fan and so any rating I give comes from the perspective of owning every single book, DVD and album he has ever released and any rating I give will be in relation to all the other products. Eddie Izzard is one of the most original, clever, funny, witty and surreal British comedians of the 20th century. He is famously a Transvestite, though in his stand up routines and in interviews he refers to himself as an "Action Transvestite". His constant tackling of gender and sexuality issues has done a tremendous amount to discourage discrimination, and he often tackles these subjects in his live show; questioning the official ... This brilliant show featuring comic genius Eddie Izzard (of whom I am a big fan) was recorded at Shaftesbury Theatre, London, when he was in the middle of his sell out ten week 'Definite Article' run in 1996. As well as being a stand up comedian, Eddie has also appeared in films and TV shows such as Have I Got News For You and takes part in many marathons raising money for Sport Relief. For me, Eddie is at his best when on stage. The man is quite simply a genius. Anyone who can mime rotting fruit deserves credit in my opinion! Whilst waiting for Christmas to arrive, when I hope I will be receiving a copy of his latest DVD, I decided recently ... Read the complete review

DEFINITE ARTICLE is the title of British stand-up EDDIE IZZARD's third DVD gig at the Shaftesbury Theatre in London. in 1996. Izzard is famous for being a transvestite and has stared in many drama and movies like Ocean's 12. Izzard is similiar in style to older comedians like the Monty Python crew for their wacky sense of humour. On this gig he is wearing mainly women's make-up rather than clothing. His comedy style is dry and mainly comes through his stream of consciousness which means he says whatever comes into his mind. He rarely banters with the crowd though does so aith aplomb when needed too. Izzard is well known for doing impressions of people on stage ... Read the complete review

I would not describe myself as a diehard Eddie Izzard fan he has always been a comic that I could take or leave however I must say that this recording of his live show is quite excellent and very funny indeed. The show was recorded in London at the famous Shaftesbury Theatre in the West End and stretches back to his earlier work as it was recorded in 1996. He has a great comic style with his slightly surreal observations on life , his St Pauls letter to the Corinthians and their reply is an all time classic of understated humour at its finest, I especially enjoy the range that he brings to his act, he does not rely solely on one particular comic style life ... This is my favourite of Eddie Izzard's shows, and probably a good place to start if you are new to him. It's difficult to review a stand up show without giving too much away, but one thing that particularly comes across in this show is Eddie Izzard's ability to connect with day to day experiences that we all have, and makes us see them in an entirely new light. He says things that everyone has thought at some point in their lives, and makes them hilarious. Who else could get so many laughs talking about the various speeds at which fruit ripens? I really do believe he is the best stand up comedian there has ever been, and if you have never seen a ... Read the complete review
