Advantages: The 1st Battalion Transvestite Brigade Airborne wing

Disadvantages: You will annoy your mates by constantly quoting it

Eddie Izzard probably the best stand up comic in the World (bar Billy Connolly) and who can take that away from someone who can take the absolute mick out of the american audience and leave them dying of laughter like i was.

This DVD is a film of his show on Alcatraz island in San Fransico or "The City" for those of you who have seen the DVD. It was Eddies breakthrough show to the US and won an Emmy. For those of you who dont know who eddie izzard is I'll quickly explain:

Eddie is an executive transvestite (not weirdo transvestite) comedian, or male tomboy as he prefers. He has been touring the comedy circuit for over a decade, he is also an actor and wearer of groovy shoes. Enough said I think

The DVD starts with a short film of a tram full with tourist heading to Alcatraz, with Eddie talking hilarious bollocks over the top. It then cuts to Eddie coming on stage with the first lines "I'm a professional transvestite so I can run about in heels and not fall over" as you do. His act is mostly about teaching the Americans about two things they know nothing about, history and everywhere else in the world than America. Such as the formation of the Anglican church and the two World Wars "Hitler ended up in a ditch covered in petrol on fire... so, that's fun. And that's funny. Because he was a mass-murdering f**k-head!"

He also does a cracking retelling of the Great Escape and the Spanish Inquisition but this time with the CoE in charge.

Theres not much more i can tell you apart from it is hilariously funny and you have to watch it. I have only recently become a fan of Izzard as i was originally put off rightly or wrongly by his transvestiteisity (not that that's a word but anyway). Don't make the same mistake i did if you like comedians such as Billy Connolly and other so called "alternative" comedians you will love this although make sure the kids are in bed and y
our nans hearing aids turned off as it can be quite rude.

Thanks for reading.

I love the phrase executive transvestive (is that his own phrase?), shame that it makes other transvestites sound a bit second class though. Still, he's done a lot for their cause anyway, I guess.

I used to think I disliked Eddie Izzard, but I've seen some clips of his stand-up and I'd like to see more. The same thing happened with Lee Evans: I assumed he was just a squeaking, sweating idiot but once I watched one of his live shows on TV I realised I find him hilarious.
