My brother sends us videos every week. Well, he used to now its DVDs. Well, actually they're for my kids. Thing is, he's very generous and keeps sending the latest DVDs ever since he gave us a DVD player at Christmas. Sooooo...if you want to borrow just about any cartoon type kiddies film then I'm yer man. Hmmmmm...well, not on this occasion. It was with a wee bit of consternation that this week's brown paper wrapper contained Eight-Legged Freaks. Actually, 'twas ma wifey that was a bit worried as it's a 12 rating but ma bro' was a little put out at the inference that it wouldn't be suitable. So like all good responsible parents, we gave ... This had been sitting in my collection for five years, and i hadn't watched it since i bout it. Now, back when i was 16, it was kinda fun i guess, but watching it now....well....it was horrendous! If you're paying to see a movie called Eight Legged Freaks then you can forget about a coherent story and Oscar winning performances! Directed by - Ellory Elkayem Starring - David Arquette, Kari Wuhrer, Scarlett Johansson, Scott Terra, Doug E. Doug, Rick Overton, Leon Rippy Length - 99 minutes Cert - 12 Eight Legged Freaks really is a one-sentence story that you're probably already aware of. Set in small town Arizona, a toxic chemical spillage comes into contact with spiders causing them to grow in grow in size and cocoon anyone they come across. And that's pretty much it. It's no secret that I'm something of a fan of cheesy horror movies (and in case these charidee things remain anonymous, then you've got a guessing game now eh? lol) and general B-movie trash so when I heard a movie entitled "Eight Legged Freaks" (originally to be titled "Arac-Attack", before someone decided it might sound a little too much like "Iraq-Attack" anyway lol!) was due to hit the cinema screens I was always going to be one of the first in line to see it. Obviously, with a name like that, it's a tongue in cheek homage to B-movie monster flicks and as such, it treads along a very fine line between being ... Read the complete review
