... typical japanese humour about Lucy's alter ego 5 year old like Nyuu being attracted to Kouto and how this is like a 5 year old being trapped in a 17 year old girls body with the guy getting caught in situations not of his own making, we have the also odd japanese style wherby this man of 19 or so is being treated as some kind of predator for like the 17 year old girl all beit he only "likes" her when the more articulate and adult like lucy appears on the scene the rest of the time its more of a brother sister ...more

(This review may contain spoilers) The story begins with a beautiful young naked woman with long pink hair and horns escaping from a highly defensive military base. She shows nobody mercy. Within the first five minutes or so she slices and dices her way through the entire swat team, using an invisible force. She murders all scientists and secretaries who get in her way without much thought , all except for one man who is the directors son. Elfen Lied is a tour de force in the horrors humans are capable of inflicting on each other and the duality of good and bad that can be present in the same individual but which one can also overcome with dedication and looking foward not back on injustices suffered against you. It tells the story of beautiful but deadly Girl Lucy who was mixed race between human and diclonius a fictious space race, who was bred in a lab and treated to extreme torture in the quest to create stronger and more intellegient humans. Anime at its best. Blood, romance and mutants.Elfen Lied offers everything that an anime can. The story revolves around lucy, a mutant with four extra "hands" - the story progresses to show her transformation and a link between all the characters that is unexpected and delightfully somber - but also uplifting, in a strage way. Then complete collection is a good one to go for as u can choose to have it subtitled or dubbed in english. As for the price, it is better to get the complete collection as anime is normally more expensive bought in volumes and without getting the whole collection you cannot completely enjoy Elfen Lied. Released in Japan in 2004, the tv series lasts for 13 episodes long each lasting around 25 minutes. Is available with both English subtitle and English dubbing. The story is quite graphic with violence and nudity from the beginning so this is for 15+ years. It follows Diclonius mutants who look very similar to perfectly normal beings, but because of an ancient prophesy that they may destroy the world government officials decide to take them into custody and subject them to experimentation to be on the safe side.
