empire of the sun is a 1987 film directed by steven spielberg and starring Christian bale and John malkavich,
Based on the novel by J G Ballerd the story follows a young boy as he is tron away in a panic from hs parents in A japenese occupied wartime shanghai and sent to an internant camp as he tries to survice and learns abut death and friendship along the way.
The main character of Jim is played by a young bale and is the focus of the story as we follow the terrors of war for ayoung english boy in his eyes. Thrown out of his social status he is treated bas by the japs ans sent to struggle in a camp where he befriends a doctor and realises his role within.
A truely moving and harrowing story, spielberg has crafted a masterpiece with immaculate detail and characters with great depth.
The soundtrack of the film is moving and help with the more emotional moments helping the narrative along with ease.
Some scenes in the film are hard to watch but you feel so investied in Jim as he becomes a man throughout his actions in the film. The ending packs a punch and stays long after the credits have rolled.
A film well worth investing yuor time in.
