Enermy mine is the 80's sci fi classic directed by Wolfgang Petersen (Cliffhanger and Perfect Storm). The film is about a human space pilot who crashes on a planet whilst in a battle with the enemy, the Dracs. He is not the only one on the planet though as you find out that one of the Dracs that he shoots down during the battle has also crash landed. The two stars of this movie are Dennis Quaid who plays the human Willis Davidge and Louis Gossett Jr who plays the Drac. At first the two enemy try to kill each other but then realise that they need to be both alive if they are going to survive on the planet. This film is about friendships being build ... Enemy Mine a 80s Sci-Fi by director Wolfgang Peterson completely evaded by radar. I watched it a couple of days after I saw James Cameron's Avatar which sees the human race a mass-consuming racial in-tolerating corporate might. In Enemy Mine we see this in the main Character to a lesser degree. Dennis Quaid is at least intolerant and at best ignorant of the Drac- an alien species the humans have been at war with over territory. Quaid peruses a fighter craft which breaks up in the atmosphere over an alien planet and causes both Drac and human ship to crash. After a hostile introduction Quaid's relationship with his sworn enemy grows from one of tolerance to friendship ... Read the complete review

This is a classic film I have seen it a few times but after seeing it again yesterday I feel compelled to review it. The film stars a very baby faced looking Dennis Quaid (Willis Davidge)and Louis Gossett junior(Jerbia). Basic story line is earth is at war with the dracs over planetary rights, the dracs are reptilian looking creatures but are intelligent. During a star fight dennis quaid shoots down the drac and then crash lands himself on the same planet. Both survive and after realising they are stuck on the godforsaken planet together strike up a frienship with both learning to speak each others language and realise their religions are not so ... A reasonable science fiction movie from Wolfgang Petersen, but by no means on a par with his excellent DAS BOOT. The usually excellent Dennis Quaid just seems to be going through the motions here, and looks incredibly ridiculous with his fake beard, but Louis Gossett Jr. makes a good stab at playing the alien who Quaid must work with to survive. The special effects do not seem particular special, but that is perhaps because I am a man in the year 2000 judging effects from 1985. A pleasant way to spend a couple of hours, though. ... I must say that i was very impressed with the acting displayed by Dennis Quaid and Louis Gossett JR in this sci-fi classic, which has all the ingredients needed for a great film. Both actors displayed a wide range of emotions from, anger to sympathy and seriousness to moments of comedy (with one particularly funny comment attributed to Mickey Mouse!) The film begins with human William Davidge (played by Dennis Quaid) attacking his mortal enemy the drac in a space battle. However the pursuit ends with both parties crash-landing on a deserted planet (Tyrine IV) and the death of Davidge's co-piolet. He was stranded on the planet with the Drac. In a fit ...
