Advantages: Fast paced, never a dull moment

Disadvantages: none i can think of

Robert Dean (Will Smith) is unwittingly thrust into a world of chaos after being given a film that has captured a politically driven murder. His only ally is a jaded ex government operative (Gene Hackman) who is extremely reluctant to get involved. With a rogue government operation against him, Dean struggles to stay alive, stay innocent and find a way to regain his life and family.

Sometimes in this movie, Smith portrays his character with a little too much stupidity and naivety. Considering he is a high powered crime lawyer, I find it amusing that the character is useless against the unknown. But I suppose that makes his progression and the turning tables on the government more impressive.

I especially liked the use of Seth Green and Jack Black in supporting roles, a little novelty that was much appreciated.

There is an extremely gory bit in the movie that shocks and keeps you alert during the rest of the action, and there is plenty of action. In fact, there is very rarely a dull moment, the urgency of the characters predicament is well portrayed in the fast moving shots and pace of the movie.

Summary: Good action film with an attempt to provoke thought
