I don't know what I was thinking but there was a morbid curiosity that came over me. No I hadn't just been handed a snuff film, instead I added Epic Movie to my rental queue. Yes that's right after being burned by the abomination that is Date Movie, I still felt it my duty to witness another cinema car crash. All I can say is that I've taken one for the dooyoo team, it was the only way to save you, the reader from suffering this terrible fate. The film had a ridiculous budget of $20 million, and somehow manages to gross $86m worldwide, not only a considerable profit margin, but an assurance that even more films of this sort are going to be made. People rag on Uwe Boll all of the time for his dire films, but at least his dire films aren't huge money spinners and they are a lot more tolerable than the output of Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, which also includes Date Movie, Meet the Spartans and Disaster Movie. Why did the chicken cross the road? Because it had absolutely nothing better to do. In a way, that sums up my feelings after wasting my time in seeing the parody movie called "Epic Movie" on TV tonight. Now, of course I already knew this wouldn't be a good movie, but I guess there's a little masochist living inside me that wants to test me at times. And boy did the movie not disappoint me. When I saw the trailer for this film I thought that I would enjoy it purely because it looked so awful. But this film goes way beyond "so bad it's good". It is truly one of the worst films I have ever seen. In fact one of the worst things about it is, it's just plain boring. Even the worst of movies are funny due to the bad acting, awful dialogue and microphones appearing from the top of the screen, but even this film doesn't have the grace to amuse us with some cack handed amateurism. Epic Movie, well not really that Epic I can tell you. THE FILM The film starts by us meeting 4 orphans, Edward, Peter, Lucy and Susan who all win golden tickets to go to a chocolate factory.
