I rented Erin Brockovich on DVD and was pleasantly surprised by the film. It's based on a true story of a lady called Erin Brockovich who's struggling in life having been divorced twice and trying to bring 3 kids up herself. She's also unable to find a job until she basically walks into her lawyer's office and demands he gives her a job, which he does. She soon stumbles on a case while filing it which has her puzzled. She starts to investigate it and finds out that a company has been poisoning the water supply which has been making local residents very ill and giving them cancer.

The story goes on to show how the case turns out and how Erin had to cope with taking care of her kids, keeping a relationship going with her boyfriend. It's a fascinating true story and at the same time a bit disturbing that things like this could happen.


The DVD includes half an hour of deleted scenes, a behind the scenes feature and an interview with the real Erin Brockovich (who incidentally appears in the film as a waitress). I personally wouldn't buy this DVD now that I've seen it but knowing how good the film is I might have bought it rather than renting it.
