Once you're sent to The Rock, you stay on The Rock. San Francisco's legendary prison sits on its own little island, a mile away from the shore. It's an escape artist's very worst nightmare. How do you reach safety without being swept out to sea or freezing to death in the notorious waters? How do you break out of an airtight security camp in the first place? As he sets about serving out his sentence and keeping his head down, he makes acquaintances with little Italian Litmus, who keeps a pet mouse, and Doc, an elderly convict who lives for his painting. His arrival also comes to the attention of prison thug, Wolf, who takes a fancy to ... Read the complete review

This film concerns a true but Holywoodised escape attempt from the supposedly escape proof Alcatraz prison in San Fransico bay.Our hero is Frank Morris (Clint Eastwood) whose own crimes are glossed over - still they can have us rooting for an orphanage arsonist can they?.Frank is good at escaping hence his transfer to ... This is an excellent film that relates the true story of the only successful escape from Alcatraz prison at San Francisco in America. Known as ‘The Rock’ Alcatraz became the prison where all of the worse prisoners in America were sent. ‘All of the rotten eggs in one basket’. The film follows the story of Frank Morris (played by Clint Eastwood) who will not accept that escape is impossible. Together with three other prisoners Morris devises a plan to get onto the roof of the prison and escape over the perimeter fence and swim to a nearby island. This plan will take months to realise but time is one thing that the prisoners of ... Read the complete review
