Advantages: Good story line, scary

Disadvantages: A touch too spooky to handle

This has to be one of the few “horror” movies which I have seen that is actually quite scary. It is not so much ‘make you jump behind the sofa and bite your finger nails to nothing’, but more ‘this is weird and I am glad that it’s not me’ scary.

The film is about a space craft, in the future, called Event Horizon. It is a prototype with a new kind of engine, one which can make you get from one place to another instantly. But on its first mission it becomes lost, and seven years later it is found again. So they send out a rescue team to see if there are any survivors and to salvage what is left, and is this rescue team is the inventor of the prototype engine, haunted by his wife’s suicide. When they find it, they board it only to find that it has been to places unimaginable and has been witness to some pretty horrific things.

The stars of the film, especially Laurence Fishburne and Sam Neill, really help to make the film seem more real. The spooky story line and great special effects makes this film a must have for the horror, well, even the ordinary film fan.
