Advantages: Light hearted humour and gore for a boring Monday night!
Disadvantages: Not very long!
I think the best way to start off this opinion is quite simply to say 'Groovy'. Anyone who hasn't seen this film is probably scratching his or her head right now wondering 'what is he going on about, is this an opinion on Austin Powers?’ My answer to you all is that you have to watch the film to find out!
We start the sequel to 'Evil Dead' once again with Ash, still stuck in the evil forest in a remote cabin trying desperately to survive the terrors that the forces of evil are throwing at him. These include a mixture of his dead girlfriends head attacking him, and then his hand becoming possessed and trying to kill him, leaving him no choice to cut it off, at which point it walks around still trying to throttle him.
If you are a gore and blood monger then this is definitely the film for you, with showers and torrents of free flowing blood rather than the usual bucket loads you see in normal horror films, and plenty of chainsaw carnage that even Eminem would be proud of.
Ash is eventually joined by a couple of hillbillies and the daughter of the professor who unleashed this evil upon the Earth, oh and her sort of boyfriend. Together they try to fend off the monsters that the forest throws at them, but eventually one by one they are taken out.
The best monster in the film has to be the professor’s daughter’s mother who rises from the dead in the cellar and chants 'Swallow your soul' while trying to kill Ash.
The only thing that will send these demons back to hell is for the daughter to read out incantations from the book of the dead, but can they do this in time, before the ultimate evil forces its way through to Earth?
This is a highly enjoyable film, which I recommend to anyone who likes a bit of gore and a good laugh. For example all of the characters in the film get completely soaked in blood at one point or another in the film, yet in the next frame their clo
thes are completely dry and there are only a few drops to show for it.
Long live the Evil Dead!
