Advantages: Really funny, Great story line, Good soundtrack

Disadvantages: Some predictable bits

After a meteor hits earth, a strange slime starts to evolve at an alarming rate. Soon there are bizarre aliens crawling, flying and swimming about all over the place. The only thing that can stop them taking over earth is a school science professor, a nutty geologist, a failed fireman and a government scientist.

The story is completely far fetched but the continuous scientific references to DNA bases, meiosis, the evolution process etc and the Dreamworks digital aliens make it almost believable. There are loads of twists, quality moments, predictable cheesy scenes and disgusting slimy bits to keep your totally involved the whole way through. Its got comedy, action, drama and love story all combined to make this a film pretty much anyone will enjoy.

The acting is also top quality with Duchovny once again starring with aliens (this is even mention in the film), Julianne Moore leaving her FBI job chasing Hannibal to work for the government, Sean William Scott finished school in American pie and is now trying to be a fireman and Orlando Jones continuing with his comedy. Oh and I must also mention the new life forms that are both cute and gruesome.

I thought evolution was wicked. Very well written and definitely the best film I have seen all year. You have gotta see it.
