The Exiles (Exils) directed by Tony Gatlif is my current must-see film and a visual and sensual feast that I found compelling and memorable. The film is beautiful and brightly coloured so that the viewer is left with an impression of fun and freedom and made me want to set off instantly on my own trip, a feeling that didn't pass 5 minutes after I finished watching it. Exiles is essentially a road movie and as such it deals with the common themes of a desire for individual freedom and the, often conflicting, desire to belong somewhere.
