The Exorcist 2: The Heretic was the hotly anticipated 1977 follow up to the hugely successful 1973 smash hit the Exorcist. The film was one of the worst follow up films to have ever been released and received such terrible reviews that director John Boorman pulled it from cinemas and attempted to edit it to the point of making it an understandable story (written by William Goodhart) but failed and thus the film remains a true flop of historic proportions. The film sees Reagan (Linda Blair) now institutionalised, traumatised and struggling to get over her possession and conflict with the devil which still leaves her having her own demons to battle. She is ... Read the complete review

A review of just the film. A DVD costs £4 on amazon at time of writing. Made in 1977, this is one of the most infamous turkeys of all time. The original Exorcist, a film I profoundly hate, was enormously successful. So a sequel was inevitable, even though the first film reaches a tidily symbolic conclusion. It was a disaster, greeted with almost universal derision, and it lost a lot of money. So the girl from the first film, Regan, is now in therapy as a result of her earlier possession, and her psychiatrist, Dr Tuskin, isn't having any of this supernatural twaddle. Meanwhile a tortured priest, Father Lamont, is sniffing around, trying to get to the ... Read the complete review

Question How do you follow one of the greatest horror films of all time? Answer You don’t. But if you were stupid enough to do it, you certainly wouldn’t do it like this. Four years after the events of The Exorcist, and Regan is now living in New York, where she is under the care of an eminent child psychologist, Dr Gene Tuskin. Although seemingly quite balanced, Dr Tuskin is concerned that Regan is much more vulnerable than she appears to be and is keen that the girl undergo some form of hypnotherapy to help her recover from her terrible ordeal. In The Vatican, concerns have been raised about the death of Father ... Read the complete review

While flicking through all the movie channels i came across this, I thought well Ive seen the first 1 why not watch the 2nd, What a load of rubbish! A priest obsessively searches around the globe for answers to help defeat the demon living inside the young girl, a demon that already cost the life of another exorcist. Acclaimed director Boorman (Deliverance, Excalibur) set out to do something different with the anticipated sequel to what may be the greatest horror film ever made: The Exorcist. Instead of the claustrophobic, tight-knit, mysterious and personal horror of the original, Exorcist 2 draws on a larger palette, including exotic locales and ... Read the complete review

What were the actors who played roles in this doing, participating in this shockingly poor sequel to one of the great classic horror films ? In spite of a star cast featuring Richard Burton, max Von Sydow, Louise Fletcher and James Earl Jones, this film is light-years away in quality from The Exorcist and no-where near as good as the real sequel, The under-rated Exorcist III. The dull script has some extremely poor dialogue and the storyline is just awful and can seem quite illogical in places. However, it is filmed well, with some lovely visuals and specila effects (convincing in their time, but a litle dated now) and the musical score is good. ... Read the complete review
