Ricky gervais returned to the bbc comedy tv show front in 2005 with extras, Telling the story of Andy Millman , a lowly extra with dreams of bigger parts and a comedy sitcom on the bbc. Alongside andy millman , stephen merchant also returns as his terrible agent who works part time at the carphone warehouse, barry off eastenders (as he is allways ... Read the complete review

Ricky Gervais found huge success with the mockumentary comedy show The Office, and he followed that success up with Extras, a show that never reached the same heights, but one that was still pretty funny and offered plenty of amusing remarks about the TV and film industry, while delivering the same embarrassing sort of humour that The Office made ... I am a huge fan of the office and was not expecting to enjoy Ricky Gervais' second TV show as much as I did. Andy played by Gervais is brilliant but Maggie played by Ashley Jenson is suprisingly good as well. They are both lowly film extras, Andy is desperate to seek stardom and will do whatever it takes to get there. Maggie is a hopeless romantic ... Read the complete review

This is a much slower series than his previous creation, The Office. the comedy is quite similar though, it revolves around people getting into awkward and embarassing situations. It is usually Gervais's character Andy that is the butt of the jokes, but there are also some excellent big name cameo appearances in every episode. The big names are ... Read the complete review

What dissuaded me from watching Extras for a little while were all the guest appearances that Gervais and Merchant included. However, contrary to my first thought, they actually provide some hilarious moments. The actors basically adopt a new exaggerated character of themselves, such as the awkwardly honest Kate Winslett and brutally insultive Ben ... Read the complete review

Extras aired in the summer of 2005 on BBC 2. The BBC wanted the show to headline their Autumn line up on BBC 1 with lots of advertising, to help boost the shows ratings. However, writers Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant demanded that their show be released quietly in the summer with minimal advertising in order to gain a similar cult audience as ... Ffom the award winning star of The Office and a multiple stand up gigs comes...EXTRAS. Filmed in the same style as The Office and with just as much dry fantastic humour, this is one of Rickys (Gervais) mosty recent projects. If your a fan of his dry, clever wit you'll love this. Andy Millman (Gervais) is one desperate man. ... Read the complete review

Right, first of all I get it out of the way......the Office was the sitcom that was critically-acclaimed, and seen by many, myself included, as better than Extras, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant's follow-up sitcom. But don't think it's any less of a programme...far from it. It was first aired on July 21, 2005 on BBC Two, with six ... Read the complete review

Where do you go to when your last project won a ton of awards and was a huge success with audiences and the critics? That was the task facing Ricky Gervais and his comedy partner Stephen Merchant. The Office had gone out on top after two series and two excellent Christmas closers. Now with a bit of clout the pair decided to rope in some ... Read the complete review
