When Stephen Elliott made Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in 1994, it looked like he had a long and inspiring future in front of him. That was a surprise hit which has sustained enormous popularity and acclaim through the intervening years - it was witty and inventive and extremely funny. However, if Eye of the Beholder is anything to go ... Read the complete review

If Ewan McGregor were a racehorse we would have been gumming down envelopes with him right now, but as a crap Scottish actor we keep letting him carry on embarrassing the British acting profession. Here he is yet again in a movie which falls at the first and simplest of hurdles to leap...the one marked ?entertainment?. Even the dumbest of low ... Read the complete review

What are two reasonable actors doing in a farce like this? The very reason why films like this have any success is that they lie within the realm of possibility, which this film blindly ignores. It begins with a vaguely interesting premise of a private eye becoming a guardian angel-esque figure towards a murderer that he has been ... Read the complete review

I felt compelled to watch this because it starred my favourite actress (Ashley Judd) and one of my favourite actors (Ewan McGregor). All in all their acting was quite good, ... It took six months for Eye of the Beholder to reach Britain and with next to no publicity, that meant it could either be an intriguing curio or a film so bad, no-one could bother endorsing it. Alas, it falls into the latter camp and anyone paying to see this turkey will feel very short changed by the time the closing credits roll. ... Read the complete review

This film should have been an interesting evaluation of the obsessions and passions that can drive us to ridiculous lengths. Instead it is a two hour trawl through someones bad dream, as the two lead characters get into increasingly ludicrous situations. Ewan MacGregor plays a detective who's wife and daughter have left him, and who ... Read the complete review

As a big fan of film noir -- from Body Heat to Chinatown, or even lighter fare such as Wild Things, I figured I would at least get some enjoyment out of this film. Unfortunately, I was way off base. Eye of the Beholder is not only the worst film noir I've ever seen, it's probably one of the worst movies I've ever seen. ... Read the complete review
