Family Guy - Season 2 Review:

Overview: Family Guy is about the Griffin family who live in a small town called Quahog in Rhode Island. The family consists of Peter, Lois and their three kids Chris, Meg and Stewie. Here is a character bios for those not familiar with Family Guy

Peter: Peter is the father of the three kids and resembles Homer in the Simpsons. He is a fat, beer-drinking oaf who loves his family. He seems to always get his family in trouble but by the end everything is back to normal

Lois: Lois is a housewife who really cares for her three kids. She loves teaching the piano and spending time with the family (although 'time' usually means in front of the tv)

Meg: Meg Griffin is the eldest child and is constantly embarrased by her family (mainly Peter). She is desperate to be popular but couldn't be further from it.

Chris: Chris is 13 and is definitely on the chunky side. He is always trying to make his dad proud. He goes and does whatever the family does without many complaints.

Stewie: Stewie is a 1 year old baby mastermind who is plotting to take over the world. He desperately tries to kill his mother Lois but never gets close to succeeding. In episodes he talks normal English but it is confusing as to whether the family understands him.

Brian: Brian is the family dog who also has the capability to talk totally normally. He loves to smoke, drink and watch tv. He is always on Peter's side and sticks by him through everything. He also seems to fancy Lois.

Season 2 Overview: Season 2 is where the creators really get the show going. It is funny to children and adults alike. The comedy isn't very sophisticated but will get to you and you will find yourself giggling out loud quite a few times (well at least i did). There is more of Stewie trying to kill Lois, Peter embarrassing Meg and other antics by the Griffin family but also more of the repetitive jokes throughout which i agree do get funnier each time but still is a bit annoying.

Season 2 Highlights:

1. E-Peterbus Unum - A classic episode where Peter finds out that his house isn't on American soil so he founds his own country called Petoria. This episode has a classy song in the middle and many memorable jokes

2. Wasted talent - A cheesy rip-off of Charlie and the Chocolate factory but instead of a chocolate factory it is a brewery. There is a massive hunt on for the silver scrolls inside bottles of beer. Peter (like Charlie) gets the last scroll with his last beer. My fav quote from this episode:

Peter (when he's hungover): This sucks worse than that time I went to that museum. (Flashback to childhood, standing in museum looking at dinosaur
skeltons.)
Peter (as a child): Why did all the dinosaurs die out?
Man at Museum: Because you touch yourself at night.

3. Lets Go to the Hop - In this episode Peter disguises himself as a student at his daughter's school to try and catch students doing "toad" (licking these dangerous toads). This ends with hilarious consequences.

Some great quotes from Season 2:

Stewie: There's always been a lot of tension between Lois and me, and it's not so much that I want to kill her, it's just, I want her not to be alive anymore.

Lois: What kind of egotistical, selfish, moronic and idiotic person would get liposuction... Who? WHO?
(Peter walks in at half of his weight)
Stewie: Oh my God... It has finally happened, he has become so massive that he collapsed into himself like a neutron star.

Lois: You're drunk again.
Peter: No, I'm just exhausted 'cause I've been up all night drinking.
