Advantages: PTV is one of the best Family Guy episodes
Disadvantages: Too many bad episodes that bring the overall quality down
Season 5 of Family Guy is not up to the standard of Season 3 and 4 which are both well worth buying. This season has 14 episodes offering you one more than you get in season 4. The episodes are spread out over 3 discs and the first disc is the best by far but from then on the laughs become fewer.
The first disc has 5 episodes and I have picked out my two favourite from this disc and have given a brief overview.
Episode 1, PTV is my favourite episode of the entire season and is one of the best Family Guy episodes made and if the rest of the season were like this then it would be one of the best TV DVD boxsets out there. In this epsiode the FFC increase their censorship on national TV so Peter decides to set up his TV Channel. This causes the FFC to come to Quahog and shut down his channel and then they begin to censor real life in the town.
Episode 4, The Fat Guy Strangler provides plenty of laughs. In this episode Peter decides to set up an organisation to help with the advancement of fat people. Meanwhile Lois discovers she has a brother and goes to find him and brings him back to live with the family. However it turns out that he preys on the obese and when Peter and his organisation discover this they attempt to stop him.
The second disc contains another 5 episodes and there is only one that really stands out on this disc.
Episode 9, Sibling Rivalry is a brilliant episode and is one of the episodes that slightly bring up the overall quality of season 5. In this episode Peter donates to a sperm bank and Stewies half brother Bertram is born and attempts to take over control of the park. Both set out on a war and only one will be able to continue with their plan for world domination.
The third disc contains 4 episodes and deleted scenes from the season. None of the episodes are that great and episode 11, Peterotica is the best of the worst on the disc. In this episode Peter decides to write erotic novels and uses Lois father as the publisher. After he gets sued Lois father loses all his money and he and Peter come up with a number of ways to find him riches again and win back Lois's mother.
This season is avaliable on amazon at the moment for £10.28 and is only worth buying if you intend to own all seasons of Family Guy. There are some episodes that raise the overall quality of the season but many of the episodes are only worth watching once.
Summary: A few good episodes but not the best season of Family Guy
