Fanny and Alexander is probably Bergman's most accessible and watchable film for the general public (No doubt why the academy liked it so much) despite its length and languorous which no doubt put 80s action goers off. Synopsis: Showing the life of a Brother and Sister born into aristocracy and the troubles and sadness they face after the death of their father and re-marriage of their mother. Fanny and Alexander spans a year of their life and how it unfolds. Ingmar Bergman's passing in 2007 was a sad one for cinema, because it meant another of the greatest masters ever to work in a directors chair had passed on. However the man had given some of the most brilliant examples of cinema ever and for that he should of been proud.
