Advantages: Good acting and CGI

Disadvantages: poor plot and pace of movie

Sue Storm (Jessica Alba), Johnny Storm (Chris Evan), Ben Grimm (Michael Chiklis) and Reed Richards(Ioan Gruffudd) are introduced as scientists that are hit by a burst of cosmic radiation in space which changes their molecules so that they gain superpowers. Johnny is the only one who embraces this newfound power whereas Ben, who has changed his appearance into a rock-like thing, wants nothing less than his old life back.

At the same time as learning about these powers they must fight Victor Von Doom (Julian McMahon) who was also changed by the radiation and is out for vengeance on practically everyone. So the plot isn't really that complex, this is a simple introduction movie that probably hoped to have a few sequels.

This movie felt really short, there were great leaps in character development, and then sudden leaps back. To me, the final battle scene seemed rather pathetic compared to the rest of the action in the movie.

While the CGI for Johnny Storm, Sue Storm and Ben Grimm were impressive, the work for Reed Richard's stretching ability was slightly, pardon the pun, flat. Perhaps this is because his power is just not that impressive, or all they had to do was have a long expanse of stretchy blue, either way it somehow didn't work quite so well.

This film could have used a lot more depth to the character and perhaps a slightly more intelligent plot, but if you just want to see another marvel inspired movie then go ahead and see it.
