note: also appears on The Student Room and Flixster Perhaps the most famous exploitation film ever made is the genre's maestro Russ Meyer's film Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!, a lightning paced, depraved film from 1965 that's got a legendary status as a cult classic, and is to be remade by Quentin Tarantino some time soon. The film depicts the travels of three crazy exotic dancers, Billie (Lori Williams), Rosie (Haji), and their leader, the seductive and dangerous Varla (Tura Satana), as they trek across the desert on a rampage of murder and mayhem. What begins innocently enough soon gets debauched as the girls happen upon a couple, and attack them, ... Read the complete review

"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to violence!" Welcome indeed to a world of fast cars and even faster women, with hair-pulling cat-fights galore and dangerous, big-breasted vixens! Out in the desert, three well-chested go-go-dancers roam the American backroads, racing their speedy vehicles and occasionally slapping each other when they get bored. While chilling out and having a light, bitchy argument, a car pulls up and out hops racer Tommy (Ray Barlow) and girlfriend Linda (Sue Bernard) who are out for a bit of a time trial, believing no harm could possibly come from this trio of lovelies. Seeing a chance for a quick ... Read the complete review

Russ Meyer's FASTER PUSSYCAT, KILL KILL is as thoroughly watchable and entertaining as it was 30 years ago, despite the fact that audiences have grown jaded to Hollywood sex and violence. This groundbreaking picture made bold sweeping statements about gender roles, and transcended the limitations of the sexploitation genre. No one was ready for Meyer's vision then , and I fear that many are still not ready. "Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to violence", is the stern voice-over that begins Russ Meyer's 1965 paean to female dominance, FASTER PUSSYCAT, KILL KILL. This gritty little low budget film assured Meyer's place in the annals ... Read the complete review

I went to see this film with a friend whilst at University, simply because the Cramps had done a cover of the theme song, and also I'd heard that Russ Meyer, the director, liked his girls stacked and naked! On the naked front I was to be disappointed, alas, but on almost every other front I was impressed. The story (as far as I can remember) concerns a trio of exotic dancers who take a car and go for a ride through the 'American wasteland', can't remember why! Everything is in black and white, and I get the impression that this film was either made early in Meyers' career, or that the film was made with a mass market in mind, hence the lack ...
