Father Ted - The Complete Box Set (DVD) ... Morgan, Ardal O'Hanlon ... / DVD released 04 November, 2002 at 2 Entertain Video / Features of the DVD: Box set, PAL / Father Ted is one of those rare sitcoms that defies categorisation--it owes as much to Flann O'Brien and Samuel Beckett as it does to Monty Python--and its blend of satire, character comedy and anarchic surrealism has made it a cult favourite around the world. Exiled to remote Craggy Island, Father Ted shares a house with the breathtakingly stupid Father Dougal Maguire and the constantly inebriated Father Jack, who has a small vocabulary and a taste for furniture polish. Their housekeeper, Mrs Doyle, takes care of them with a never-ending supply of tea and sandwiches: "Go on now, Father, won't you try one? They're diagonal." Together they fight boredom by dressing up as Elvis, startling ducks at the fair and provoking nuns. This set compiles the entire three-year series. --Simon Leake

According to what I have heard, you do get priests who do not want to lose out, priests that seems 'duh' and priest who love their drinks too much. The housekeeper keeps you entertained with her incessant serving of teas and sandwiches and would never take no for an answer. The humour in Father Ted is not slap stick but it is fast moving. It is a pity that they are not making anymore series. ( the main character died of heart attack during shooting ) Father T...more

Premium Review Father Ted - The Complete Box Set (DVD): Complete Father Ted Boxset - What more could you want? (320 words)

I always enjoyed watching Father Ted episodes on Channel 4, so as soon as the complete box set came out on DVD i bought it straight away. I was not disappointed! The 4 disk box set contains every single Father Ted episode ever created including christmas specials (25 in total) and DVD special features all in a tidy fold-out box with cover about twice the thickness of a single DVD case. I found the DVD speical features both fun and interesting, especially the writers commentary for series 1 and 2. Some of the commentary is by Graham Linehan (writer) and Ardal O'Hanlon (Father Dougal). The special features for series 3 include more fun things such ...

I've had the Complete Box Set of Father Ted for several years now and still like to dig it out and give it a spin every now and again. It contains all of the episodes ever made for this brilliant comedy sitcom. Originally this was screened on Channel 4 in the 90s and was popular with quite a wide audience for its easy going comical nature. Father Ted Crilly is basically about a priest who lives on Craggy Island, a remote island in Ireland. He's there because he's been a bit of a rubbish catholic priest so the archbishop sent him there to get him out the way! Along with him is Mrs Doyle, the housekeeper who is obsessed with forcing everyone to drink ...

At least if you buy this, you are guaranteed to laugh more than you would to the punchline to that joke (if there is one, I'm sure there is, I just made it up for effect!) I'm not going to spend ages boring you with what Father Ted is actually about, because I'm sure most of you know. If you dont, may I suggest the below site I stumbled upon as a guide to the show, or one of the many others on the web. http://www.fathertedonline.ukf.net/ Briefly, this is the plot: Father Ted is a sit-com is about three priests and their housekeeper living in a parochial house on Craggy Island (I'm not sure if this exists!) off the coast of ...
