Advantages: funny, realistic, drugs
Disadvantages: it ends, NOT FOR KIDS
Im a bit confused about this website. Do people actually read the reviews before going out to spend their hard earned cash? Do these reviews influence people? ill get to my review in aminute, but the reason i ask is this. I was just cruising in my white shark dell laptop around this site and i found a review for... wait for it.... Woolworths. Yeah. really. Now..stop me if im wrong, but i dont believe that someone went into town today, walked past woolworths and stopped like a badger in my car head lights. whooaaaaa.. not going in there, need a review. s**t, woolworths, WHAT IS IT? well. its sells sh*** and i dont need 5000 words to tell you that. I think this is important, i have faith in the British public, i dont think there morons who need to be told what year and how many elvis nods there are in a film, i dont think this should or does influence there choice. I think maybe 5% of the people who read a review for a film like this havent already seen it. Those 5% SHOULD, this film is class. For the people who care cast: Jonny Depp (brilliantly adapted role, he spent time with Hunter S Thompson (who wrote the original book) to get his mannerisms and voice correct). dedication. :Benicio del toro: unregonisable, but plays a drug crazed lawyer splendidly. "elegently wasted" is not how you would describe him. cameos: Ricci, That blonde bird and a load of others. They dont matter, this is a two man film based on a two man book. Plot: Gonzo journalist (term made up by hunter to describe....well..himself), goes in search of the American dream in Las Vegas (there is a motorbike race, but dont get fooled into thinkin it matters). Its nixon 70's. Take alot of drugs 'We had two bags of grass, 75 pellets of mescaline, 5 sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine and a whole galaxy of multicolured uppers, downers, screamers, laughers......also a quart of te
quilla, a quart of rum, a case of budweiser, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls....' i read a review saying this film didnt glorify drugs!!!!! wake up.. this is not a kids film. the two hereos (on a knife edge (of coke) description) are on drugs, everyone who isnt on drugs is portrayed as a small minded bigot. They do have one more drug, but that is a surprise you will have to watch the film to experience. This film is funny. at one point they go do a police drug convention after being up for 72 hours, yep....doing drugs. 'a roach is called a roach because it resemble a 'cockroach' Depp is superb. The script is water tight. The effects are surreal. a cult classic. You can buy it at your local branch of woolworths ( i read in a review somewhere) Alternatively: The big Lebowski, Planes, trains and automobiles
