The movie Fearless was one of the best among Chinese films I've seen. Stars the Chinese martial artist, actor Jet Li, exceptionally portrays the life story of Huo Yuanjia, also a martial arts master in which this movie was based. Directed by Chinese film maker, Ronny Yu and this movie was released in 2006. Jet Li is a martial arts screen legend and has now been around for many years. Fearless was described to be his last martial arts epic and it definitely is a very good film. Released in 2006 it is directed by Ronny Yu. This film is packed full of stylish fight scenes and Jet Li continues to shine. Just to add I think it is great that Jet Li still does films outside Hollywood where the pay is much less and it shows his love for martial arts and entertaining. This is basically a mix between your typical Jet Li film, and The Last Samurai. A story about a man who becomes a legned, loses it all, and then goes on a voyage of self discovery that is both convincing and beautifully set. Fearless stars Jet Li as Huo Yuan Jia, a martial arts legend who lived from 1868 to 1910. Huo Yuan Jia was a real person and one who is still reverred by the Chinese as a Hero. Like any Jet Li film I awaited this with great anticipation. This film does go further than a lot of martial arts films in the sense that it has a good plot and good performances. Jet Li (Huo Yuanjia )and director Ronny Yu worked well together in this movie and is beautifully shot. Being a bit nostalgic and set in colonial times this was perhaps a hard sell to mainstream western audiences but still a very good watch. I think that Jet Li is getting quite old and his age does begin to show in this film, particularly with the intensity of some of his fight scenes.
