Advantages: It's got mood, crime, action, drama...

Disadvantages: Bit confusing towards the end

The other day, around 10pm, I just got very bored, with nothing on TV. So I scrolled through the ITV Digital’s (sorry) Now and Next thing. With it being ITV Digital, I had mere choice of channels. I am getting Sky, honest. So anyway, I’m just scrolling through the channels and I come to Sky Premier. And guess what was on?

“Hey, Fight Club! I’ve been wanting to watch this for ages.”

Then, I noticed I was talking to myself. So I just changed the channel and shut up.

The film started in a stereotypical US city, dirty, nighttime, criminals running around… The film got to a part where one particular character, namely Tyler Durden (Brad Pitt), started this ‘Fight Club’, with his friend, who goes by the name Jack (Ed Norton). So, these two people (whom I said, go by the names of Tyler Durden and Jack) start getting members for this Fight Club, and at night, they approach a small, wrecked basement, which is the perfect atmosphere for the club. So anyways, they go to this place and, to put it positively, try to get rid of their aggression. To put it in a more suitable phrase, they go and beat the c..p out of each other.

Beat the c..p out of them.

Yes. But, as Fight Club gets older, Tyler becomes more psychotic; more interested in making Fight Club a better organization to be a member of. So, he and his members create Project: Mayhem. This involved many homework tasks, like starting a fight and losing, and putting a smiley face on buildings, with fire from the windows as eyes. This made Tyler go prank-crazy; he would get more involved with killing than the usual fighting between members. One time, a major stunt was pulled, and as both their secrecy and succession was at an all-time high, Tyler disappeared.

Now, Jack completes one of his homework tasks, which is losing a fight with his boss, he gets sent home, PC and a lot of airline tickets. But Tyler goes missing. So, what h
appens? Jack (he’s nameless, but is referred to that by Tyler) goes onto every plane he sees with these tickets, but it would seem that Tyler is always one step ahead. He must hurry. Thing is, as Jack goes to all the bars he sees, he notices that he has spread Fight Club all over America. Or at least the Project: Mayhem part of it.

Then, Jack catches up with Tyler, at the very last place he decides to go to.

But I’m not going in to the film any further, as this is where the story unfolds. I will say, however, that is you do watch this: Make sure you have FULL concentration on this film. It is complicated. Or, as I would casually say, this film is rather f ked up.

“FIGHT CLUB IS ONE HELL OF A F KED UP FILM!” I have heard myself say, but not only me, a lot of other friends as well.

Ahem. So anyway, that’s mainly what the story revolves around. The plot becomes so much more complex though, you do need to pay a lot of attention to it, otherwise you would simply just get lost in it’s script.

The film’s genre, more or less, is a drama. But it’s a very dark-like drama. Very dark. It does have the perfect atmosphere added, with the right mood. And to get it better, they have put in quite suitable music to make you feel more like this film could well happen. And, if you think about it, it could. There would just be no music. But the music is there, so nyer.

Tyler’s personality is a bit carefree, but too much of it. He doesn’t think much of crime, and sympathizes whenever someone needs it. He just does it with the ‘s’ word in. He also has realized that him, Jack and the fellow Fight Club members have wanted to be seen on TV, as actors or rock stars, but it just isn’t going to happen. He doesn’t give one.

Jack is a lot different, he does give one about what happens to him, or other people, but the strange thing is, he starts to be
come paranoid when he finds out that he and Tyler start to like the same things. Just put in a different way.

The acting of the film, which I thought, was very, very good. Realism was included there, and the fight scenes, which DO look real, and the way they jump through glass etc was very mind-boggling how it could have been a stunt. The personalities must have had a lot of time put into, because they seem to be very complex and sometimes hard to fully figure out. They have kept these characters in good shape, making sure that the postures don’t change and so on. So, this is another very strong element in the film.

There are no special effects in the film, just classical stunts and fake wounds etc. It’s all pure real acting, and what a job they do of it too.

“Well, what else could I go on about?”

Ok, after immense writer’s block, I’ve decided to come to a conclusion about the film.

I’ll start off by saying I’m glad ITV Digital have decided to put Sky Premier on it’s very tight list of channels, because then I wouldn’t have seen the film, and you wouldn't have read my precious advice, would you? Right, right, the film… it’s great. I could expand that greatly, but that way it would go right across the whole opinion you have been reading. And that would be a silly idea, repeating such information. Although it would help you take in more of my valuable information. But I didn’t so that’s that. So, overall, if you have the channel called Sky Premier, and the rights to stay up late at night, then look through the week’s TV guide for the film – with all the action, drama and weird twists you could possibly be hungry for in your mad mind: Watch Fight Club, it is one film you would definitely do not want to miss out on. And trust me when I say that.

Yummy. The scene in his bosses office is one of my favourite of all time. The whole monkey found shaved thing is very funny indeed.
