Advantages: Robin Williams in another "out of character" role.

Disadvantages: Should not be classified a thriller.

Final Cut centres around this world in the future where those who are rich enough can have a "Zoe Implant". It records your life through your eyes until you die - everything you see and hear is recorded.

Robin Williams plays Alan Hakman, a "Cutter". Their job is to view these memories and cut them into a fitting tribute for the deceased. Choosing which memories to keep and which to delete forever.

Most of the first hour is spent watching a few days in the life of a Cutter, watching him edit different peoples lives and seeing how he interacts with different people.

We see a piece of Alan Hakman's (Williams) childhood, a disturbing memory and secret which has haunted him for 20 years. Whilst cutting for widow Jennifer Bannister (Stephanie Romanov - Angel) he sees someone in Mrs Bannisters deceased husbands life who is linked to that memory.

Whilst on a quest for the truth about this person, he discovers that he has an implant, this is against the cutters code. He becomes worried for his life and decides to be tattooed, it is an art form which those who disagree with Zoe Implants have developed, it disrupts the implant and prevents it picking up sound waves (a further tattoo can be done to stop it recording pictures too). He visits one of his colleagues to gain access to the chip and find out the truth about his past.

The knowledge that he too had a Zoe Implant was soon known in dangerous circles and Alan begins to fear once more for his life. He is eventually hunted down and shot for his implant, for on that is the key to stopping people having Zoe Implants forever...

I followed the plot easily enough, though the other 3 people watching it with me did not think much of it at all.

It can only be classed as a thriller for the last 10 minutes or so but that is a long time to wait for some excitement! Those who are easily bored or want a film to instantly grab you will be dissappointed.

I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys having their thoughts provoked and doesnt mind having to wait for the story to kick in. Based on my experience, 1 in 4 of you will love it!

Everyone should try it, Robin Williams was excellent as were the supporting cast, he has shown again that he is a brilliant actor.

The idea for the story was a good one, though a little slow getting off the ground. It has a lot of interesting story and I hope one day someone will remake it to its full potential.

Dont buy it, rent it and decide from there...

Summary: Excellent premise for a story, not fulfilling its potential.
