The absurdly named Rexxx is a celebrity dog who formerly worked in films but one day when shooting a scene in an airplane, he falls out of the plane and winds up being rescued by a boy named Shane Fahey (Josh Hutcherson), who is inadvertantly revealed by the dog to be a truant. Premium Review Firehouse Dog (DVD): Family misfire (301 words)
by - written on 23/11/09 ()

I am skeptical of any film involving anthrophomorphic animals, but occasionally they CAN be good fun if they're earnest and smart. Firehouse Dog is NOT one of those times, and although it does have a few bright spots, it's just too daft and too crude to really hit its targets. Rexxx ends up plummeting from the sky, but luckily a truck full of tomatoes breaks his fall, and Rexxx ends up wandering the streets. Here he comes into contact with Shane, a young boy whose mother left him and whose father is the chief of a rundown fire ...  Read the complete review
