Based on an original novel by David Morrell, FIRST BLOOD is the film that introduced us to the film version of the famous character John Rambo, played by Sylvester Stallone. Made in 1982 the film tells the story of Rambo, a Vietnam veteran whose return to America has not gone as well as it should. He has become a disillusioned drifter, and when he drifts into the small town of Hope he is arrested for vagrancy. Whilst in police custody Rambo is badly mistreated. He manages to escape but the police try to hunt him down, and this is what the main bulk of the film is about - Rambo having to stand up for himself against authority in a country that has not welcome ... This movie makes Rambo as the person , all of us are familiar with. He is a veteran of the Vietnam war. Due to certain circumstances he is locked up in a prison . Rambo manages to break out of the prison. The police are on his trail, and he escapes to the jungle. He displays supreme skills in outsmarting the police. Rambo also displays great survival skills during his stay in the forest. The action sequences are handled very well. It is a relatively short film. But, with great stunts and a good plot, it is definitely worth the spent money. Sylvester Stallone is quite fine in the action sequences; though, he has not acted that well. His fine toned muscles make up for that ... Read the complete review

Think of Sylvester Stallone, and two movie characters spring readily to most people's minds. The working-class boxing hero Rocky, the "Italian Stallion", and John Rambo, the embittered and somewhat unbalanced Vietnam veteran, with the dubious talent for killing nearly everything which comes within ten feet of him. These are two roles that Stallone, the ultimate "macho" man, reveled in, and both series of movies were huge box office hits, giving Stallone financial independence for life. But in both cases the best of the series are unquestionably the first movies. When "Rambo - First Blood" was initially released in 1982, ... Read the complete review

Rambo - First Blood. (Film Review Only.) ================================== I must confess when Rambo-First Blood was advertised in the Stallone Series currently being aired on Sky One I was a bit downhearted as I knew my Husband would want to watch it and this would mean either a very early night for me or being subjected to watching it. As you can guess I stayed up and sat down for what I thought would be mindless violence and bloodshed, well I will proudly hold my head up and say I was wrong. I found myself being glued to the film from start to finish and discovered it was nothing like I expected and in fact, I thoroughly enjoyed this film to my shock ... Read the complete review

Rambo: First Blood is the first of the Rambo films (followed by First Blood Part 2 and Rambo 3). Obviously I was aware of the cult status of Rambo films ? in which Sylvester Stallone cemented the tough guy film star image he?d earned in the Rocky series ? but I?d never previously seen any of them. The consensus seemed to be that, while the sequels got slightly silly, the first film was a good one; so I took the opportunity of watching it on BBC 1 Saturday (19/07/03) -?I believe they?re showing the whole trilogy, because Part 2 is due next week. Stallone plays John Rambo, a Vietnam veteran trained to be a jungle killing machine. Returning home to America, ... Read the complete review
