... main character is David/Davey (Joey Cramer) who meets and makes a fascinating new friend called Max (Paul Reubens). This isn't an ordinary friendship because it was made in an extraordinary way. Expect the unexpected in this movie. One of the things I liked the most was David's relationship with his brother Jeff. It shows what everyone goes through but in the films running time of only ninety minutes. There are also a lot of good looking special effects which the director made work well. The plot I thought was pretty...more

This is a wonderful 1986 film from the Walt Disney studios that captures some magic with its sci-fi elements and caters for audiences of all ages, and classes as a family film. The Plot David is a 12-year-old boy who bickers with his 8-year-old brother but is generally content with his life with his mum and dad as well. Out looking for his brother one evening, he stumbles and falls, knocking himself out. Waking up what he feels is a couple of hours, he realises he has been gone 8 years, but has not aged one bit! As his family and scientists struggle to find out what happened, the discovery of a flying saucer seems to have a link to David not aging, ...  Read the complete review

Flight of the Navigator is one of those rare breaths of fresh air you get when a movie studio actually comes up with something original that appeals to all ages. Surprisingly, this offering is from Walt Disney Studios, but it is their least formulaic live action film of the 1980's, harking back to the quality of their cinematic hey day of the 50's and '60's. The film It is 1978 and the setting is Ft Lauderdale, Florida, and the film begins with two brothers on an outing with their parents, watching dogs catch Frisbees on the 4th of July. The 12 year old older brother, David, says he is going to teach the family dog this trick, and of course the younger ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Flight Of The Navigator (DVD): An absolute cult classic - all the family will love it (351 words)

I've been watching this movie since I was a kid. It seems that at least every 1 or 2 years, BBC ONE always decide to put Flight Of The Navigator on again. I assume they think we've suffered the same memory loss as the main character in the film! Flight of the Navigator tells the tale of 12 year old boy David Freeman. One evening when he goes out looking for his younger brother, David falls down a deep ditch and injures himself. He later wakes up for his unconciousness, assuming it is just a few hours later, and returns home. But to his shock, there are strange people living in his house niow. And in fact, David's family have moved away. As time ...  Read the complete review

It's been a long while since I watched Flight of the Navigator, one of my favourite films as a young boy. It was recently given out free ( yes! free! ) by The Daily Mail (booooo!). Flight of the Navigator had an excellent premise. A young boy while out in the woods looking for his brother is somehow transported eight years into the future only to find his family old and grey and his brother almost twenty years old. It soon transpires that he has been whisked off into space by a strange alien creature so that their planet can investigate human beings. As a young boy you can imagine how that premise would interest you and I would always ...  Read the complete review

This an absolutlely classic children's movie brought to us once again by the Disney studios. The first time I saw this was in my final year of junior school when my teacher was off sick and the only person to cover was the headmaster. Basically he didn't feel like teaching us, probably because he had headmastering to do, so he nipped down to the video shop, sat us in the hall and left us watching a this video. Well, it certainly worked because we were all captivated for the entire running time - now that shows a decent movie... Filmed in 1986 in Fort Lauderdale, The Flight Of The Navigator, the movie tells the story of a boy called David who goes to meet ...  Read the complete review
