Force 10 From Navarone is based on the book of the same name by author Alistair MacLean as is the sequel to The Guns of Navarone, the immensely popular film starring Gregory Peck and David Niven. Force 10 was released in 1978, and features some famous names and a powerful script cast onto the screen. The film didn't do as well as it should have, but is still a quality film. Following the successful destruction of the guns of Navarone, survivors Mallory (Robert Shaw) and Miller (Edward Fox) are sent after a spy named Nicolai, who they had come across briefly in their previous mission. If you're a big Harrison Ford fan, and I am, you don't have to see this movie, but you can if you really want to. This was Ford's first starring role and, in that respect, is similar to many others' first roles. An average part in a B movie. There is only one real scene that I think of as "classic" Ford: perfect facial expression, great delivery, and just a tad cocky. The movie itself was nearly boring with a few good action scenes to keep you awake. The end was somewhat predictable, but not bad enough to criticize. As a war movie, it falls well short of decency.
