Ever heard of Judd Apatow? If you are a fan of the influx of recent comedies with a rude bent then you probably have. He is the new comedy mogul in town with a finger in many laughter pies. He hit big with 'The 40 Year Old Virgin' and 'Knocked Up' and has gone on to direct, write or produce several other comedies in a short time including 'Superbad' and 'You Don't Mess with the Zohan'. You may notice a similarity with all these comedies - the geek gets a girl! Well this same idea can only work so many times, right? IMO only 'Superbad' has been a great film by Apatow and there seems to be a steep downward turn in quality. Could 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' add a new ... Read the complete review

I put off seeing 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' for quite sometime, until one day, in the midst of a fruitless Blockbuster video search, I finally yielded and decided to give it a go. I assumed that the Nicholas Stoller directed comedy would be pretty lame, and for the first ten minutes or so, it was. My initial disappointment however was eventually replaced by an appreciation for a semi-well written script and occasionally entertaining set pieces. When Marshall decides to end the relationship, ... Read the complete review

What I like about Judd Apatow (producer in this case) is that he manages to create rom-coms that are just as enjoyable for guys and he's done the same with Forgetting Sarah Marshall. The plot is very unlikely but involves a musician for a TV show named Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) being dumped by his celebrity girlfriend (Kristen Bell as Sarah Marshall). To try and take a break from his life he goes to Hawaii on vacation where, of course, he bumps into his ex with her new boyfriend (Russell Brand). Comedy and romance follows. I found it much funnier than I was expecting and Russell Brand was actually pretty good! He was the main reason I put off watching it ... Read the complete review

In recent years we have been bombarded with a miriad of films aimed at the teenage-twenty something market, that focus on the disgusting and depraved; and you know what? I'm fine with it. Especially when they are as good as this one. Ok, so you can argue that Forgetting Sarah Marshall is another product of the formula that gave us Knocked Up and Superbad, but what's wrong with that? These films are funny and entertaining. Forgetting Sarah Marshall is about Peter, who, after being dumped by his Tv star girlfriend, goes to Hawaii to escape. The only problem is, his ex is there too; and she's with another man - a popstar no less! What ensues is a ... Read the complete review
