Plot Summary:
Forrest Gump is very low in IQ (75), but high in EQ - stand for emotional quotient - the word which hasn't been popular at his time. But Forrest's mom believed in this, even though she did not what is EQ at all. She just did her best to put Mr. little Gump into the pool of chances, hoping Forrest would one day be chosen. Forrest Gump is the chosen one actually, only everyone hesitates to realize it.
Forrest has had a bad childhood, everyone thought. He was almost rejected by the school, if it wasn't for the "skill" of his mother. He need a stand to help walking, and can run like other kids. And he only had one friend - Jenny. But Forrest enjoyed it, especially the time with Jenny and running.
The first running of Forrest is when he was beating by other boys, and then became the life of Gump. He ran into college, ran to date with Jenny, ran out of college, ran in Vietnam, ran in water (that is call swim), ran around America, and ran to anywhere. Also, Gump ran in the center of almost every historic event in America, he taught Elvis Presley how to dance! And other big event :)
But Forrest is not happy, not because his passed mom, but Jenny. Jenny always eluded him with no reason. Will Forrest finally get his true love?
My advice:
Each person can find a distinguish Gump in this movie, who is the reflection of his/her America Dream. Oh, the beautiful America Dream, it can be a big house, large salary, cars, luxuries and everything. But after you got all this stuff, is it the right dream you want?
Gump tell us, no, it isn't. And he also proves to us that courage, determination, fortitude and love are more important than one's intelligent and ability. If you are desperate pursuing your America Dream everyone, stop and think about this movie. Maybe you will find another path, which will be happier.
Tagline for this movie: Life is like a box of chocolates...you never know what you're gonna get.
Some facts about this movie:
It has won six Oscar awards at 1995: The Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Director, Best Effects, Visual Effects, Best Film Editing, Best Picture and Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium. And it has another 32 awards and 38 nominations.
