Advantages: VERY FEW funny moments

Disadvantages: Appalling script, a waste of an incredibly talented cast

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear... Just how many Academy Award winners are there in this film? There's Reese Witherspoon, there's Robert Duvall, there's Sissy Spacek, there's Jon Voight and there's Mary Steenburgen. But just what the hell happened? What the audience gets is a mediocre, mostly cringing comedy that is utterly charmless and surprisingly dull in many places. Even the talented actors of this film cannot seem to handle the rubbish script and a bunch of frankly appalling jokes. Thank god the running time of the film is only 88 minutes. There is a countable number of funny/memorable moments in the film and they don't even make up for half of the film. There's no magical spirit of Christmas here, just some left-overs gathered together and made into something quite horrible and tasteless. Very, very disappointing - do not trust the U.S. boxoffice when judging the quality of this film.
