Pushed To Breaking Point
=================

Fracture stars Anthony Hopkins as Ted Crawford, a wealthy and intelligent engineer who knows that his wife is cheating on him. He confronts her about the affair. His wife ends up getting shot and appears to be dead, she is actually in a coma. The police officer who comes to investigate is, crucially, the man who his wife was having the affair with.

It looks like an open and shut case, they even have a confession, but there is a crucial
piece of evidence missing to link him to the murder and the officer's credibility is in serious doubt.

Willy Beachum (Ryan Gosling) is a hot shot lawyer assigned to the prosecution is on the way out to a private company so his interest in the case is also in doubt. Things however start to get personal. Ted decides to defend himself, against advice.

Conclusion
=======

This is essentially a court room drama. Ted is a very clever man who seems to be enjoying himself a little too much, although it shouldn’t I found this endearing. There are twists and turns a plenty, Ted always seems one step ahead.

I doubt if it is intentional but I found myself wanting Ted to win. There are also
quite a few moments that are very funny.

This is not Hopkin's finest hour, for those look to Nixon or Silence of the Lambs, but it is certainly not his worst. He is well suited to this type role. He seems to drop into an Irish accent every so often which is a bit strange, especially for a Welsh man.

The ending seems a bit forced and to be honest a little bit predictable and disappointing. The film makers played it safe a little. The running length is about right, it doesn't overstay its welcome.

On the whole I enjoyed the film very much, it is interesting and makes you use your mind, it proves that it doesn't take cutting edge special effects to make a good movie, it's a good plot and good actors that you need. This movie has it.
