This is just the type of film to watch on a Sunday afternoon snuggled up on the sofa with your other half and limitless amounts of hot chocolate and biscuits. Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer head the cast, in this truly romantic type of film. She feels that she will never love again and her best friend is a gay man, who encourages her to go out on a date. Pacino is a man fresh out of prison, and ends up working as a chef in the cafe where she works. He falls for her and then has to convince her that she could love and trust him. Introduction I've had this film in my collection for about five years now and it just gets better every time I see it. The first time, it didn't make that big an impression on me, but there is a quiet humour in it that is very touching, yet entertaining at the same time. It didn't make all that big a splash at the time that it was released - probably because it does take a few watches to get into it - personally, I think it has been much underestimated. Frankie is played by Michelle Pfeiffer, who does an excellent job of looking far from her normal glamourous self. Frankie is a waitress in a diner, and every night after work, she stays home alone watching TV or staring out of her window at nearby apartments. She has a fear of being hurt so she does not allow herself to have a relationship. Johnny is played by Al Pacino.
