... and a good action movie so wasn't sure what i would make of this film. but i gotta say i love it. It was very refreshing to see Pacino playing a different kind of character and i think he nailed it. The film is based in New York, and Pacino who has just been released from prison and is no longer part of his ex-wife and daughters life is looking to turn his life around, he gets a little apartment and proceeds to look for a job. This is just the type of film to watch on a Sunday afternoon snuggled up on the sofa with your other half and limitless amounts of hot chocolate and biscuits. Al Pacino and Michelle Pfeiffer head the cast, in this truly romantic type of film. She feels that she will never love again and her best friend is a gay man, who encourages her to go out on a date. Pacino is a man fresh out of prison, and ends up working as a chef in the cafe where she works. He falls for her and then has to convince her that she could love and trust him. It is just a lovely bit of film, worth seeing!!! ...  Read the complete review

It didn't make all that big a splash at the time that it was released - probably because it does take a few watches to get into it - personally, I think it has been much underestimated. The director This film was directed by Garry Marshall, who is also responsible for directing Pretty Woman, Beaches, Runaway Bride and The Princess Diaries. He is also an actor, playing mainly minor ...  Read the complete review

Frankie is played by Michelle Pfeiffer, who does an excellent job of looking far from her normal glamourous self. Frankie is a waitress in a diner, and every night after work, she stays home alone watching TV or staring out of her window at nearby apartments. She has a fear of being hurt so she does not allow herself to have a relationship. Johnny is played by Al Pacino. He has recently been released from prison, and gets a job as a cook in the same diner as Frankie. For Johnny it is love at first sight, he sees beyond Frankie's physical appearance and believes they are soulmates. He has also been hurt in the past, and this is more than evident after he is ...  Read the complete review
