Freaky Friday (DVD) ... Friday, teenager Anna (Lindsay Lohan) and her fortysomething psychiatrist mum Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) have sunk into a rut of frustrated bickering--until a magic spell causes them to switch bodies. Suddenly Tess finds herself faced with petty teachers, vicious rivals and a hunky boy, while Anna has to cope with her mother's neurotic patients as well as her befuddled fiancé (Mark Harmon), who doesn't understand why his bride-to-be is suddenly recoiling from his embrace on the eve of their wedding. Both Lohan and Curtis turn in deft, delightful performances, with Curtis showing a surprising flair for physical comedy. The movie even manages to explore serious issues about fractured families, new parents and adolescent sexuality with honesty and empathy--and without making the story stop dead in its tracks. This 2003 remake of the 1977 original is a mother-daughter film that fathers and sons can enjoy just as much. --Bret Fetzer

... strains of each other's lives. The mother in this film is Dr Tess Coleman, who is played by Jamie Lee Curtis, and the daughter in this film is Anne Coleman, who is played by Lindsay Lohan. Both of these actresses play their role well, and add realism to this escapist film. The film is quite emotional, and it plays well on the relationship between mother and daughter, and the generational gap. I thought that the script was well written and helped with this. The DVD has quite a lot of bonus features, which add to the prod...more

Crowned Review Freaky Friday (DVD): Freakily Good (1020 words)

Yesterday, whilst very bored, I sat flicking through the television channels for something decent to watch. As is always the case in England on a bank holiday, there was absolutely nothing, even on the hundred and something channels we receive through Sky. I did see that BBC were showing the movie Freaky Friday, but to be honest it didn't appeal to me. However, there was nothing on so I left it on and sat there expecting a dire 90 minutes. But do you know what? I was left quite pleasantly surprised! Freaky Friday is actually a remake of a the 1976 version of the movie which starred a very young Jodie Foster and someone called Barbara Harris. The modern version ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Mother-Daughter switch! (448 words)

This is such a fun movie to watch, especially on a particular occasion like Mother's Day! Released in 2003, it is based both on the novel by the same name and the original freaky Friday of 1976. I personally believe that this is one of the best teenage comedies ever, even if it is more than suitable for an adult audience alike! What I liked about this particular movie was the realistic ream which was blended with the supernatural; hence developing quite an original dimension and thematic features in the movie. The plot is simple: A rebellious teenager and her overworked mother are often at their wits' ends with each other. Until the day when strange ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Freaky Friday (DVD): A little freaky! (370 words)

I love going into th cinema and although Idont go in as much as Id like to now, there was a time when I would find myself there at least once a week. During this time of excess spending, one of the films I went to see was Freaky Friday. Plot: Freaky Friday, released in 2003, is a film about Anna and her mum Tess. They seem to argue constantly and one evening when the family were visiting a Chinese restaurant they leave the room to continue their arguement. They are handed fortune cookies and on opening them, they find the next day they have switched bodies. How can they handle their daily lives as each other? Characters: Tess is such an ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Body swap comedy (551 words)
by - written on 28/05/09 (Very useful, 39 readings)
Rating:

Freaky Friday is a body swap film much in the same vein as Vice Versa, where two people swap bodies through some supernatural means and then struggle through as each of them try to come to comes with the swap as well realising ways of enjoying themselves a little bit more than usual! Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan play the mother and daughter, constantly bickering, Tess and Anna Coleman. Tess is due to get married to Ryan (Mark Harmon), while Anna is suffering as every teenager does with everything being so unfair!! When a restaurant owner's daughter chants a 'spell' during a dinner evening out, neither of them think anything of it......until they wake up ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Freaky Friday (DVD): My Favorite Freaky Friday Movie (514 words)
by - written on 23/11/08 (Very useful, 8 readings)

While I absolutely loved the original Freaky Friday movie that Jodie Foster starred in, I beyond loved this new Freaky Friday movie that starred by Lindsey Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. I think I have to say that this movie was even better than it's predecessor. I probably liked it better because it put a more modern spin on the movie and the boy involved, Chad Michael Murray, is one of my favorite actors, due to his hunky looks. I loved the changes they made to this already fantastic flick. This is a movie that the whole family will love. The story is about a high strung mother Tess Coleman, played by Jamie Lee Curtis and her rock 'n' roll daughter, Anna, ...  Read the complete review
